“Indecision” Sheet Music

🎹 A score for solo piano with no significant technical difficulties. Original lyrics and harmony chords are included in the sheet music.

⚡A twelve-note scale and metered sheet music are not capable to express the sound of “Rex Orange County Daniel Caesar Indecision_0001” with its layered vocal and digitally generated inflections. In the genre of Hip-Hop/EDM, the emphasis is on aspects of rhythm, whereas aspects of harmony or pitch are not that relevant.

🗝️ The track is transcribed in the original key D Major.

🔠 Chords are Aᵐᵃʲ⁷ A⁷ D/a Dₘ. This witty progression with chords outside the home key carries nonharmonic drama under the soft naïve melody.

The middle part has a different unstable progression with strange cadences.

🙅🏼 Avoid learning both hands together; you will fail immediately and abandon the score. Add fingering where needed.

The score looks complicated but it consists of recurring patterns: the same four chords are repeated over and over again. I doubled note values for Duet version to make it easier to sightread.

In the duet version notice the markings "left hand", "right hand" — the main riff is written in the lower staff (because it was played this low on the record) but you play it with the right hand, not the left hand.

🎤 The vocals are typed using the 𝄠 suboctave clef (the treble clef with the numeral 8 below it). Sing one octave lower than written.

Rex Orange County and Daniel Caesar sing with layered vocals one semitone higher and lower the main melody so it sounds like indefinite pitch.

🎶 The melody is build with pauses.

🥈 The second voice can be omitted by beginners.
